JOHN CONOLLY plays guitar and melodeon, and is an internationally-known singer and songwriter. His songs, many of them inspired by the fishing heritage of his home town of Grimsby, are known and loved all over the world, and he has performed them to far-flung audiences from Chicago to California, and from Brittany to Bermuda. . . John’s best-known songs, like “FIDDLERS’ GREEN”, ”THE TRAWLING TRADE”, “PUNCH AND JUDY MAN” and “THE WIDOWMAKER” have been performed and recorded by many famous artistes, but there is always a special buzz in hearing them sung by the man who wrote them!ROB van SANTE was born in the Netherlands but has lived most of his life in England. His mother was a child prodigy pianist so music was an important part of his early life. But Rob’s first love has always been the guitar. From the mid 1970s onwards he toured extensively in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, working with many stalwarts of the U.K. folk and jazz scene. In the early 90s he joined the ranks of Battlefield Band as their ‘fifth’ member (sound engineer) and continued in that role until 2010. Acknowledged for his subtle guitar accompaniments and fine harmony singing Rob is also a noted producer, recording engineer and session musician. Outside of the duo work he records and plays also with U.S. songwriter Janie Meneely. When Rob has time off from busy touring schedules he can be found working in his recording studio in his adopted town of Whitby, UK.JOHN and ROB have been working together as a duo since their collaboration on the production of John’s most recent CD “The Man from Fiddlers’ Green”, which has received critical acclaim in the Folk media. Rob’s sensitive guitar accompaniments and vocal harmonies add an extra dimension to John’s tuneful and thought-provoking songs, and together they provide a thoroughly entertaining evening of good music and great humour.
